The Golden Age of Scottish Fiddle Music came at a time when music was banned from use in the Church of Scotland. As a result, religion is not a common theme in fiddle music, except from time to time to poke fun at the Church! Rorate is a beautiful exception. In its original version, this lovely Christmas piece requires the violin to be retuned as shown below. This gives the violin has an unusually mellow and resonant sound. This edition includes the original version, as well as a version in D major, for which no retuning is required. A perfect piece for concert, worship, exams or competitions.
