An arrangement of a brilliant Scottish fiddle tune by James Scott Skinner, arranged by David Banney, with optional decorations and variants by Chris Duncan, this is a superb short work for intermediate string orchestra. The title refers to the Spey River in northeast Scotland, and a 'spate' refers to fast-flowing, wild water.
